I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas

It’s September and I’m already thinking about Christmas.  Yeah, shoot me now.  I used to be the biggest procrastinator (think shopping the day before).  Once you have kids, though, it takes more planning.

Most of the stores are starting to put together their Christmas sections (depressing.  Can we wait for Halloween to be over first?).  At least they’re not playing Christmas carols… yet.

All this got Bil and I talking about presents.  I think it’s going to be a much leaner holiday (for a lot of people including us) then it has been in the past.  Which sucks.  I love watching people open presents.

I’m thinking I may have Vista make something for the grandparents.  What I’m not sure yet.

As for bought presents for her, I’m eying one of those Tag Juniors (she loves to read).  But at $50… well.  Perhaps that’ll be her one big gift and we can get her some coloring books, crayons and stickers.  Those are always a hit.

Am I the only one stressing about Christmas already?

I’m already gearing up for it. It’s easier on the budget if I start shopping now and can spread it out. Last year we went crazy for Ava, but this year will be a couple small gifts and one big one.

We were in a big home improvement store a couple weekends ago and they already had their Christmas stuff up too. Pretty soon stores will just have it up year round.

You could always check ebay! I think she’s still young enough that I don’t think she realizes how many presents she’ll get. I think one big one then some little things here in there. Check the stores for cute little things here and there that are on sale and throw them in a box in a closet.

Nope, I’m with you. Mostly because I love Christmas. I love the lights and music and seasonal food/drinks. I especially love the snow. Now with 2 kids, pennies will be pinched.

Not at all. The past couple of days I’ve been thinking that I had to get my crap together and start planning the kids Christmas lists.

Getting the money and the time to plan a Christmas for 2 kids was stressful last year. Not sure how I’m going to handle planning for 3 this year.

Plus Christmas Eve will be my 30th birthday and I’m planning on having a large self-indulgent meltdown. So that will suck up any last minute time.

I am bad. I won’t think about it until Thanksgiving and then I always spend more money than I wanted too.

Gift idea for you…they make these picture frames that you can color on. Last year I got them at target, like $9.99 each. Printed out cute pictures and had the girls color the frames. Went over well.

The tag junior is on sale plus free shipping and if you give them your email address you get 5 dollars off. You could buy it now and save it.

I love Christmas! I am so excited already.

And stressed. I hate the superstores. I am starting my shopping already.

I’m totally working on my Christmas list right now, too. I agree with avasmommy-it helps me budget better to spread it out over a few months.

And I don’t know if you have any consignment sales or stores around you, but I get most of my kid’s Christmas stuff from those.
